Procedure of Aircraft Registration in Nepal

Aircraft Registration and Licensing Procedures in Nepal

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) regulates the registration, airworthiness certification, and leasing of commercial aircraft.

1. Issuance of National Registration Marks

Every imported aircraft must be registered in the CAAN Civil Aircraft Register, obtaining a unique Nepalese registration mark (9N-).

2. Air Operator Certificate (AOC)

Commercial airlines must secure and maintain an AOC, proving crew training, safety systems, and maintenance compliance.

3. Aircraft Leasing Approval

Wet-lease or dry-lease agreements with foreign aircraft owners must be approved by CAAN to verify compliance with international aviation standards.

Rajiya Law Associates advises aviation operators on aircraft lease financing, regulatory approvals, and CAAN dispute resolutions.

Our legal associates offer end-to-end consultancy and litigation services in this sector. We assist with regulatory filings, compliance audits, dispute resolution, and contractual drafting to safeguard our clients' interests.
